Procrastination: The New Dirty word!

Are you always putting things off for tomorrow that you can do today? Saying you will do" it" and never get anything done?! Setting the same goals that never gets accomplished?? Then you my friend are a Procrastinator!! Procrastination is the new swear word that needs to be banned from our language and lifestyles!!

Procrastinate: to defer action; delay: to procrastinate until an opportunity is lost.

Characteristics of a grade A Procrastinator
People who procrastinate tend to put off everything until the last minute. The phrase that pays is always, "I will do it tomorrow". They tend to be indecisive and evasive when it comes to decision making. Procrastinators are often bad with time management and planning.

OH My Goodness, I honestly feel like I am writing about myself! I tend to procrastinate often and suffer the consequences for putting things off until later. Procrastination is bad behavior that must be changed!

Have hope my fellow procrastinators...there is redemption for us yet!! Let's unite and turn over a new leaf!! Lets us do today what we intend on doing tomorrow because we don't want to do it tomorrow anymore??!! I have learned...The First step towards change is a positive attitude; believing that you can change for the better. The second step would be to eliminate all distractions and obstacles that are preventing you from completing your tasks. The third and fourth steps will be easier because the path will be clear for you to achieve your set goals.

Here's to Good Health, inside and out!!! Igniting a Movement for self improvement!!

You!!!

Are you a procrastinator? Do you plan to change your bad behavior?

What if your Favorite Rap Artist were Gay...

Would your favorite rapper, singer or actress be less appealing if you found out they were gay?! (Singing in my Wiz Khalifa voice) Yeah uh huh, you know what it is, rainbow colors, rainbow colors, rainbow colors!!

Okay seriously, would your favorite celebrity be less appealing if you found out they were gay? Celebrities often hide their sexuality due to a fear of social stigmas and negative reaction from fans.

As fans we often indulge in the latest magazine articles and television interviews just to support and follow our favorite celebrities. But are we digging too deep when we want to know about their sex lives?! I honestly think that an individual's sexuality is very personal and totally separate from his/her professional career. It is sad to think that people are forced to hide who they really are in order to avoid public ridicule and violence. An artist should be loved and appreciated for his/her talent alone.

Celebrities choose to commit themselves to an entertainment world that can be very cold. The spotlights display their talents as well as their flaws. Remember people, Celebrities are just like us, just with bigger wallets.

What do you think?? Would it make a difference if your favorite artist were Gay?? Talk is Cheap...

One Time for your Mind: Let us be mindful to the fact that there is a universal bond that unites us all.... humanity. This Blog was inspired by recent hate crimes and the current controversy involving Hot 97 DJ Mister Cee. Click Link to read-  http://t.co/WibsSbq

Boxers or Briefs: Does it really matter??

I wonder... Which do men prefer, Boxers or Briefs?! I thought about this as I road the train home from work and searched my brain for interesting topics to blog about. What can be more interesting then finding out from men if they prefer their privates mobile or stationary?! Inquiring mind would like to know.

Boxers or Briefs, which do you prefer?

I have seen a few pairs of boxers, briefs and boxer-briefs in my day. If I may speak for all women and say, what a man wears underneath can enhance or ruin a romantic encounter. Hideous prints or tight diaper like draws, do nothing for me! Just imagine things are getting hot n heavy...then you see giant green clovers or a stain adorned on what he would call underwear...eeewwww. No thank you.

You can tell a lot about men and their underwear!
Lets take a look at the men who rely on their wives or mothers to purchase their undergarments; these men tend to be less responsible and more dependent on others to make decisions. Men who take pride in purchasing and choosing their own undergarments tend be more assertive and confident in character.

Is there a real difference in personality or swag when it comes to the style of underwear men choose?! Male readers we need your help!! Enlighten us women by telling us which you prefer Boxers, Briefs or Boxers Briefs??? and Why??

Talking About Your Ex with the Next

Are you talking about your ex with your next?? Some people are chatting way too much about their past relationships.Your current love interest does not need to know the specifics of your past relationships. Constantly talking about old flings can steer your new relationship into a dead end.

If you bring up your past, your new relationship might not last!
Have you ever had a boyfriend or girlfriend mention their Ex to you?? I think we all have. If you haven't...most likely its you mentioning the Ex in conversation!! It is not wise to talk about your past relationships while trying to build a new one.

Constantly referring to your Ex in conversation might seem like you haven't quite gotten them out of your system. Talking about your past relationships can be a big turn off!! What woman or man wants to sit and listen to you babble on about how bad Jim or Jone treated you in the past?!

It is okay to reflect on past situations and learn from them.

Making a Fresh Start -Listen, your Ex is your Ex for a reason; leave them in the past where they belong!! If it did not work then, most likely it won't work now!! Try to make a fresh start!! You must learn from your bad relationship experiences in order to create new and exciting ones!! Give yourself some time before jumping into a new relationship and remember that all people are not the same!

Does your current boyfriend or girlfriend mention their ex in conversation?? If so, how does it make you feel?

The most Germ infested places - we touch Daily!!

What you can't see, can be very harmful to you! The average hand harbors about 150 different species of bacteria. Researchers have found that germs are able to survive on surfaces anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks!

Here is a List of a few filthy things we touch daily.....

Let us start with our Finger Favorites:

The shopping cart handle, public drinking fountains and ATM buttons!! Saliva, bacteria and fecal matter can all be found on shopping cart handles. These handles are rarely cleaned and touched by hundreds of people daily! Public drinking fountains are full of germs too! Did you know that school fountains harbor up to 2.7 million germs per square inch of the spigot??!! Chinese researchers found that each ATM key contains on average 1,200 germs!!!

It is so important to constantly wash your hands with soap and warm water. It is also good practice to carry hand sanitizers! Hand sanitizers kill 99.9% of hand bacteria!!

Household Havens for Horrible Germs!!
Your Bathtub and wet laundry can be filled with tons of germs! Your tub may have more than 100,000 bacteria per square inch, including staph bacteria. Even though you regularly clean your tub, you use it to wash germs off your body and the moist environment makes it perfect for germs to grow.Wet laundry can pose a threat of E. coli exposure! One soiled undergarment can contaminate the whole load with bacteria!

Soiled laundry should be washed separately!! Set your washer on hot!! 150 degrees kills germs, in addition to using bleach which kills 99.9% of bacteria.

Hand bags are a Heavenly place for Bacteria! Bacteria travel in class, attached to our Nine West or Coach Bags!! Ladies, ever rest your purse on the bathroom floor or sink??? Recent studies show that women can carry tens of thousands of bacteria on the bottom of their purses. Researchers have found Staphylococcus bacteria, Salmonella and E. coli!!

Try hanging your purse on the hook in the bathroom and avoid resting it on the side of the sink. Bacteria can easily survive on our clothing and bags, posing a potential threat to our health.

Germs at the Gym!! Researchers have found Staphylococcus bacteria on Yoga mats and Cardio machines. Communal places are often covered with infectious germs that can pose a threat to our health. It is important to disinfect machines and mats at the gym!!

The list goes on...from door knobs to remote controls...What you can't see, Can hurt you! What do you think? Do you carry hand sanitizers in your bag? or will you after reading this article?? Check out this advertisement for hand sanitizers!!

Cheaters: Having your cake and eating it too!

Cheating can be a major concern for men and women in relationships. Some people like to have their cake and eat it too! Infidelity is one of the leading causes of relationship failures. I have heard women say "all men cheat" but that's not true... its fair ground these days. Men and women both cheat!

 Why do people Cheat??
There are many reasons why people cheat and they tend to vary between the sexes. Most men complain about not being satisfied sexually due to not having sex as much as they would like. Men also complain about variety, keeping  their sex life spicy and thrilling. A common complaint amongst women is a lack of emotional attention, this is one of the major reasons why women have affairs. Many women say they need to feel that they are desirable and wanted by their mates. Note, these listed reasons do not justify the act of infidelity!

Ever wonder who men and women cheat with?
Three American studies revealed: 40% of cheaters admitted to cheating with a friend. 35% admitted to cheating with a co-worker. 22% of women admitted to having an affair with the ex-boyfriend. 23% of men admitted to cheating with a stranger, someone who they met at a bar. Lastly, 8 % of men admitting to cheating with someone they met online and 3% of the women admitted the same. It is proven that online cheating can be addictive; 90% of men and women who cheat online continue to initiate new online relationships!!

It is difficult when relationships reach these rough patches of miscommunication. Many of these problems can be prevented by spending the necessary time with your mate. You know the saying, take care of home first!!

Question of the Day: How do you forgive and move on? It is hard to mend a relationship after the trust has been compromised. Partners tend to develop insecurities and trust issues. Many people carry feelings of hurt from past relationships into new ones, ultimately making their new partners miserable.

What do you think? Could  you forgive your partner after cheating?? Or have you hurt someone by trying to have your cake and eat it too!!

Short Men: Big Things come in Small Packages

Does Height Really Matter?!

Many women have height preferences when it comes to dating. They often visualize their ideal man as being tall , dark and handsome. The average height for a man would be about 5'8, anything less is considered short. But are we being fair? Are our height preferences keeping us from meeting really great guys? Hhmm... something to think about ladies.

Many of us are brain washed into excepting preset standards of the ideal weight and height. Who in the world set these unrealistic "Barbie and Ken" standards for us to live by?! It seems a little primitive to assume that the Bigger Man is the better one. The word "Short" has a negative connotation associated with it, implying a lack or inferiority of some sort. Amazing enough, we have created this meaning, changing a description into a fault. It's kind of sad.

Napoleon Complex or short man syndrome is defined as an angry male of below the average height who feels it necessary to act out in an attempt to gain respect and recognition from others to compensate for his abnormally short stature. Many short men feel they have something to prove. They tend to be a bit more competitive and aggressive socially, due to this inferiority complex.

One time for your Mind: A good man, is a good man, whether he is tall, short, white, brown or purple. We are all entitled to having preferences, but don't let these preferences discriminate and judge people prematurely. What do you think? Is Height and issue for you? Or perhaps weight??!!

Cosmetic Surgery: The Opt to Nip n Tuck

What God didn't give you... you can simply purchase!

Cosmetic Surgery is on the rise! What was once an option for Hollywood's Elite and upper middle class, is now available to everyone! The average Joe or Jane with a steady job or a half way decent credit line, can opt for plastic surgery! According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), 13.1 million cosmetic surgery procedures were performed in the United States in 2010, up 5 percent from 2009. Booty, Booty, booty, booty rocking everywhere!! (Sorry Yin Yang Twins Moment)

The most common procedures are Breast Augmentation, Liposuction, Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) and the very popular  Buttock Augmentation.

Choosing to Nip n Tuck?
There is mixed opinion about Cosmetic Surgery... Honestly, If I could afford a top of the line surgeon and his top of the line prices... I would totally consider cosmetic surgery. People choose to Nip and Tuck for many different reasons. Whether if its choosing to remove an unwanted birthmark or to have corrective or reconstructive surgery. All of these procedures should be well thought out. Choosing to enhance your beauty is a personal decision that you must make on your own or with your significant other.

Cosmetic Surgery Risks
All surgeries pose some sort of risk, but there are no short cuts to Cosmetic Surgery procedures! Cosmetic surgery should not be done in secret or in someones basement or by an unlicensed Practitioner!! Botched surgeries can cause irreversible damage and  possibly cost you your life. Just this week, Wed. Feb.9, a young woman died after receiving silicone injections in her buttocks. She traveled from London to a Philadelphia hotel to get the injections. It is reported that she later complained of chest pains and had trouble breathing; she later died at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital. It is unclear if the individual who administered the injections was licensed or not, the investigation is still pending.

Yo Quiero Taco Bell???

Taco Bell the home of the most pocket friendly tasty tacos and burritos! I can recall on more than a few occasions, rushing to Taco Bell, craving those seasoned beef and sour cream treats. Now...

Yo No Quiero Taco Bell!!
An Alabama law firm has filed a lawsuit against the popular franchise claiming the "seasoned filling" is only 36% beef!! The suit claims that it's  false advertisement to label the mixture beef when it's not and is asking for the menu to be changed.

Okay I know you are wondering .... Whats in the remaining 64% of the filling??? Lets see, water and "extenders" like "wheat oats, soy lecithin, maltodrextrin, anti-dusting agent, autolyzed yeast extract, modified corn starch and sodium phosphate." Also, something called "Isolated Oat Product." Sounds Yummy Right?

Taco Bell Responds to Suit
Greg Creed, CEO and Chief concept officer of the Taco Bell corp. disputes the claims stating that they are false- "Our seasoned beef recipe contains 88% quality USDA-inspected beef and 12% seasonings, spices, water and other ingredients that provide taste, texture and moisture.  The lawyers got their facts wrong.  We take this attack on our quality very seriously and plan to take legal action against them for making false statements about our products."

One time for your Mind: Always second guess food for under a $1. Think about it people, you get what you pay for!!!

What do you think about these claims?? Will this stop you from eating at the restaurant?? 36% or 88% Beef... Well, call me when its 100% beef!!!

What is Good Hair???

The topic of hair stirs up lengthy conversations amongst many people, especially people of color. For ages Black people have struggled to maintain their hair. Many of us have straightened it and fried it to achieve what would seem to be acceptable in White America. It is way past time for us to stop trying to meet Hollywood's standards of beauty and embrace our own!

So, what exactly is Good Hair?
I hear people say so many ignorant things when answering this question. Its "curly", "straight", "Good hair isn't nappy hair"etc.

Historical Implications
Many of our complications and insecurities with our beauty, stem from the less than human treatment we received in our introduction to America. During slavery times mixed Blacks with lighter skin and "acceptable features" (hair Included) were preferred by their Masters. "House Slaves" were often spared the harsh labor "Field Slaves" had to endure. (Read my Blog post called Light Skin vs. Dark Skin...) http://t.co/X5sNLs4

Our history has a direct correlation with how we perceive ourselves today. We have been brain washed into thinking that the things that make us unique and beautiful, are ugly and unattractive. This is the message that we pass on to our children when we put relaxers in their hair at early ages, thereby altering their natural God given beauty.

As a young girl my mother didn't let me use hair relaxers... My mom would constantly tell me that "I didn't need that stuff in my hair". I guess she wanted me to love and appreciate what God gave me. I have learned to embrace my tight curls and all of my features that make me a Beautiful Black Woman!!

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with people relaxing their hair or using weaves or wigs!! It's okay, I do it myself. What I do have a problem with is people criticizing coarse hair and turning their nose at it! Black Hair is beautiful! All hair is beautiful!!

I think good hair is healthy hair. All hair, from fine to coarse textures, that is properly cared for and treated with conditioners, is Good Hair!

What is your Definition of good hair?

The weekend...its the best time to let your hair down and shake off those work week blues. Girls head to the salons to upgrade their sexy and Boys go to the barber to rid all traces of scruffy. Do you like your Meat Beat? A Farm Animal's untold Truth...

From Farm to Fridge (uncut)

Wouldn't you like to know what happens to your meat before you buy it? Chances are, the animal you are about to eat was beaten, sick or dying before it reached the slaughter house. Animals raised on Factory farms live short painful lives. They are raised by the thousands and jammed into tight cages that restrict any natural movement. Factory farm animals are forced fed hormones, antibiotics and various stimulants to promote rapid growth. These stimulants in the meat contribute to many human ailments, such as advanced puberty and various cancers.

Are you against Animal Cruelty?

I do not condone any type of animal cruelty. We as consumers have to take a stand!! I am not suggesting that we all become vegetarians. There are more humane ways to treat animals raised for food. We can make a difference! Our vote counts at the register! Make sure your meat has a label that says Certified Humane Raised & Handled, this insures that the animals were handled properly.(Well I think it does?!) The healthiest choice would be not to eat meat at all, the secondary choice would be to purchase organic meats or poultry. I mean really, if the Cow was green before it died.... do you really want to eat the meat from it?!

We should really be more concerned about the conditions of the meat we eat it!The video posted contains graphic images of the abuse that many animals endure at Factory Farms; discretion is advised.

After watching this video I wondered if the labels really matter?! These farmers do exactly what they want to do! I mean Really!! Castration without a mere flinch! These men are cold!!

One time for your Mind:The meat and poultry industry is the largest segment of United States agriculture.Total meat and poultry production in 2007 reached more than 91.5 billion pounds.-American Meat Institute. And Despite it's decline...According to the USDA,in 2009 Americans consumed 26.9 Billion pounds of Beef. All that beef translates into a whopping $73 billion dollars in profit.

Question: Where's the Beef?
Answer: On your plate!

Two times for your mind: Many of our sea creatures suffer abuse and cruelty as well.  Dolphins, whales and many large sea creatures are chopped up alive and left to bleed out. Scientists proved that sea animals suffer and feel pain like any other land animals. Did you know that most of the mercury that people are exposed to comes from fish consumption?!  Mercury is poisonous to the body and can cause damage to the central nervous system.

In my opinion, eating a fish while it's still alive is totally wrong! It's slow torture and pain that it can feel! I just would not do it. Some people do it and even find it entertaining...

*Discretion is advised*

What do you think? After watching these videos... would you stop eating certain meats??  Drop a Dime... I truly value your opinion!!

Historical Moments.

Happy Birthday Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
                                           (January.15, 1929- April.4, 1968)

Dr.Martin Luther King, Jr was a Baptist minister as well as a prominent Leader in The African American Civil Rights Movement. In 1955 he led the Montgomery Bus Boycott following the arrest of  Mrs.Rosa Parks. He helped found the Southern Christian leadership Conference in 1957 and served as their first president. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Civil Rights activist that fought for change using nonviolent strategies, such as sit ins, boycotts and freedom walks. His Civil Rights efforts lead to the march on Washington in 1963, where he gave his famous "I have a Dream" Speech. Martin Luther King and followers of the Civil Rights Movement fought against segregation and racial inequality. In 1964, Dr. King was the youngest person to ever receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Sadly, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated on April. 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1986, America decided to make Martin Luther King Day a U.S. Federal Holiday. The Civil Right Movement gave birth to a new generation of liberal minded thinkers. The Dream Lives on...

Love on Lock Down

Okay, I was listening to radio personality Cherry Martinez on 105.1, she has a show called Lock Down Love that comes on Sunday evenings. The show allows people the opportunity to call and shout out their loved ones who are incarcerated. I started to think to myself...

Lock Down Love.. Do you have what it takes to hold down your Incarcerated Boo??

As I listened to the many people that called the station that Sunday, I noticed that most of the callers were women. The countless "I miss you's " and "I love you's " were all from dedicated women calling to support their men! So what does that say about us as women? Are we more dedicated than men? Okay just think if you were locked up, would your man take trips upstate to see you? Or would he save himself until you returned?

I think the answer is No!You would probably be single at the sentencing.
(Much Respect to Remmy and Papoose, they are a true exception.)

I've seen so many dedicated women prepare for trips upstate to see their sons, boyfriends, husbands or friends. Packing and prepping, searching for the right thing to take or even rushing home to receive scheduled collect calls. I think it takes a dedicated heart and lots of patience to deal with supporting a incarcerated loved one.

Supporting your Man Behind Bars

Lonely and often in debt, many women remain loyal to their incarcerated men. These women are fueled by relationship promises that are often never fulfilled. Inmates rely heavily on the comfort and support of these women to get them through. Supporting a Love on Lock Down can become a troublesome and draining lifestyle. I honestly think its impossible to maintain a relationship with someone who is incarcerated. But there are women and men who do it and make it work.

Incarcerated Marriages on the rise...

There are many people who become romantically involved with prisoners and later get married. Married prisoners with good behavior are allowed conjugal visits from their spouses. Studies show that 1 in 9 incarcerated marriages end in divorce; which means that these marriages last longer than conventional marriages. Can you believe it??!! Why use eharmony or match maker when you have all these incarcerated hotties to choose from??!!

Okay Seriously, I don't think I am strong enough to maintain a relationship with a man that's locked up. And I think it would be selfish of him to ask me to wait for him, especially if he has a long sentence. What do you think? Could you hold down a locked down love? Or have you been in a relationship like this before?

Taking your Child to the Shooting range.

The right to bear arms is a part of the foundation of America and the second amendment right of the U.S. Constitution. Many people exercise this right by carrying licensed weapons and keeping them in their homes.  In many states it is legal for children to handle a gun under the supervision of a legal guardian. Now My question is...

Is it appropriate for a child to learn how to use a gun?

There are shooting range classes available for children to learn how to operate guns of every type. About two years ago an 8 year old boy from Massachusetts accidentally shot himself in the head at a gun show. As the boy fired the Uzi, "the front end of the weapon went up with the backfire and he ended up receiving a round in his head," police Lt. Hipolito Nunez said. Currently the parents are suing the gun club and organizers of the gun show; accusing them of negligence. I think the real people to blame in this case are the parents. What parent gives their 8 year old child permission to operate a machine gun?! Should we also place some of the blame on ourselves too?! It was perfectly legal for this 8 year old kid to have the Uzi machine gun in his hands.

I remember when my brother got a BB gun for Christmas from my grandfather. We lived in North Carolina at the time; it was not unusual for a child to have a rifle or a pellet gun. He didn't use it much but I remember him waving it around and pointing it at the family in play. In my opinion guns promote violence and are highly inappropriate gifts for children.

One Time for your Mind: American children are more at risk from firearms than the children of any other industrialized nation. In one year, firearms killed no children in Japan, 19 in Great Britain, 57 in Germany, 109 in France, 153 in Canada, and 5,285 in the United States. -(Centers for Disease Control) Note this report does not include the number for non- fatal injuries children suffer from guns.

This Blog is dedicated to all of the children who have lost their lives or have been injured by gun violence. A gun in the household poses a risk to everyone. If you own a gun, please keep it away from children.

What do you think?! Should children be allowed to operate a gun with parental consent?
